For fourth consecutive year, INTRASOFT International is co-organising one of the major European events in the field of sustainable urban mobility. Representing the leading European drive for sustainable urban transport, the CIVITAS Forum 2016 will take place in the port city of Gdynia, Poland, during 28-30 September. The event will gather hundreds of visionaries, policymakers and practitioners from around Europe, devoted to the development of cleaner and better transport in their cities.
The Forum is organised by the CIVITAS WIKI project, the support action of the EU CIVITAS 2020 Initiative. The project, since 2002, has facilitated the introduction of numerous innovation measures that have already made transport more eco-friendly in over 60 European metropolitan areas and has managed to test over 700 measures and urban transport solutions, supported by the intensive exchange of good practices in the field. As a communication manager of the project, INTRASOFT International coordinates several aspects of the organisation activities, leading promotion and dissemination activities of the Forum.
Introducing sustainable urban transport
Under the banner ‘Shaping the Mobility of Tomorrow’, Europe’s leading annual transport conference will unveil the most sustainable urban transport solutions to date. The event will host a variety of insightful, exciting discussions and sessions from selected experts covering topics such as smart cities, e-buses, inclusive mobility, ITS solutions, urban freight logistics, alternative fuels and shared mobility.
Several high-profile stakeholders, politicians and decision makers are expected to attend or speak at the conference, including Vice-President of the EC Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, Poland’s Minister of Development Mateusz Morawiecki, and Mayor of Gdynia Wojciech Szczurek.
With the Mayor’s full support, the City of Gdynia is going all the way in making this pivotal event a spectacular one by organising five different site visits: a biking trip, tour of the city centre, e-mobility trolleybus discovery, low emission bus visit and a cutting-edge traffic management centre.
Networking opportunities
The programme also features plenty of networking opportunities including an intriguing cocktail reception in one of the city’s notable museums and a grand dinner in a five-star venue by the waterfront. The CIVITAS Awards 2016 and the Cycling Challenge 2016 Awards will be instrumental in highlighting best practices and success stories that everyone can learn from and be inspired by.
Gdynia, part of the tri-city metropolitan complex that also includes Gdansk and Sopot, has won numerous awards in sustainable urban transport. The city has been a vigorous participant in CIVITAS-led initiatives such as CIVITAS TELLUS and CIVITAS DYN@MO, representing a great opportunity for the Forum’s attendees to discover a model city in the field. The conference will be hosted at the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park, a beacon of innovation and entrepreneurship in Poland.
